In 2005 I received a Certificate in Art for the Children's Market from the University of Washington. I have been a member of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators since 2006. These pieces were done for workshops, private commissions, and as part of my portfolio.
My version of a page from 'Guess How Much I Love You' by Sam McBratney. This was done for a master class at the 2011 SCBWI Western Washington Regional Conference. Watercolor and colored pencil.
Character sketch of 'Mr. Tiger' for 2013 SCBWI WWA regional conference master class. Watercolor and black colored pencil
Portfolio piece showing an unruly kindergarten class. Watercolor and colored pencil.
The Fiddling Pig, a commission from a friend. This was the first time I used black Prisma Color for the outline. I like the effect. It gives me a lively line and is more forgiving than pen and ink.
Ichabod Crane, from Washington Irving's 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow' is at one point described as resembling "...some scarecrow eloped from a cornfield." This character sketch was done in water color and colored pencil
Private commission for fundraising campaign. Character design is from a work-in-progress YA novel. Watercolor and black colored pencil.
